Immersion in the Baie de Somme, the kingdom of seals...
Renowned for its unique flora and fauna, the Baie de Somme is home to an animal species well known to young and old alike, which you will enjoy watching… France’s largest colony of harbour seals has made its home in this bay, mingling with their grey seal counterparts. Twice a day at low tide, you can see them gathering and basking on the sandbanks. However, these wild animals are shy: you will need to keep a safe distance of at least 300 metres so as not to disturb them. The best spots for observing them are at Pointe du Hourdel, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and Le Crotoy. Bring binoculars to maximise your chances of seeing them. In summer, Picardie Nature can provide further guidance. Remember to book in advance.
